Lisa Hannigan, “I Don’t Know” and “Lille”

Today is looking to be a busy day, so here is a quick little eye/ear candy to start the day. Lisa Hannigan is an irish singer songwriter that I’ve been listening to for a few months now. Her album “Sea Sew” came out last September, and I am loving the Crafty/(very well done) DIY feel of both the album itself as well as the videos for two of her songs (”I Don’t Know” and “Lille”). For some reason I am having a few problems actually posting the videos here so check out the “I Don’t Know” video and “Lille” video on Vimeo. Below are screenshots from the two videos.

Street-Signs into Spring Flowers

This morning I was running through the blogs I read on a regular bases, and came across this public art piece done by Mark Jenkins on Three Potato Four’s Blog. The “Signs of Spring” public art was done in both Washington, DC and Malmö, Sweden back in March/April of 2008. I wish our street signage was as pretty as Sweden’s!

Eat with your eyes

Abby Ryan has been creating a painting a day since ‘07. Beautiful, simple and delicious. Seems like a great approach to creating and selling work but from the looks of all the food subjects she may still be a starving artist (w/ an occasional smoke. see variety of matches). She also makes it look easy on several videos of her at work. I find the the half a dozen PBJ’s and candies so satisfying I can skip lunch…

Breaker Box Camo

The ‘early 00’s version of disguising a breaker box was to stick a giant plastic rock shape over it. These late 00’s look new and fresh, at least in Playa Vista, California, thanks to the creativity of Joshua Callaghan. If you stand on the right place it actually IS like it’s not there, instead of some giant plastic tumor rising up outta the ground…

Professor Akiyoshi Kitaoka from the Department of Psychology at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan, creates images that will make your head spin.
Through the study science of vision and perception, Kitaoka generates illusionary art.
The website hosts a wealth of vertigo-inducing images and a catalogue that cites various illusion phenomenon.

Note: It is prudent to wait 60 minutes after eating before viewing these images.
