I Often Dream of Trains in New York DELUXE EDITION

Gamil Design worked with Yep Roc and Robyn Hitchcock to create a deluxe CD package for a limited Deluxe Edition of “I Often Dream of Trains in New York”. The classic looking CD package unfolds and transforms into a phenakistoscope, or moving picture machine. Original CD and DVD artwork can be viewed as animations through the included viewer. Gamil developed and produced the package concept, design and artwork. Each part of this deluxe package was made in the USA. This Deluxe Edition can be purchased at Yep Roc!

Blue Flame Tattoo came to Gamil Design wanting a new website that was simple yet decorative, and able to accommodate large galleries for each of the artist. Pâtisserie of Lite

If you have not been to Paris in the past 100 years or so you have been missing out. Macaron’s (not to be confused w/ coconut macaroons) are the signature confection in The City of Light. Composed of a delicate pillow of meringue, almond and silky sweet fillings in a myriad of colors. You may even wonder if the city’s nickname was inspired just by this delight.

Never fear! In Columbus Ohio, Anne Fletcher has made a crossroads between US(a) and Les Parisiennes at her lovely Pistacia Vera.

Only recently have I known of this wonderful shop. Interested in my product, The Teastick, Anne contacted me for pricing and I casually mentioned the macaron desert I am marooned in… and just today, I received this elegant box of assorted macarons in the mail. Totally unexpected! I have now become the hero of the office (sorry Beth). My advice to you, if you are not travelling soon to Columbus (or Paris), is to get online and ship yourself an assortment from Pistacia Vera and become the hero of your friends and family. 6 Billion Others: Portraits of Humanity from Around the World is a project completed in January 2009 (?), by Yann Arthus Bertrand and is translated into a website and a book. See and interact with faces of people from all over the worldand watch and hear mini biographical excerpts from these people, answering questions like “What does love mean to you?” “What do you hope to teach your children?” “What does happy mean to you?”. It is a project that recognizes the universal life goals, desires and needs of people across the world as well as the cultural differences, opportunities and sometimes heartbreaking challenges that come from individual perspective and living in one place or another.

I think giant portraits or photos of family members over the fireplace is usually…well…kinda creepy. But Valerie Leonard has hit on the exact right kind of creepy with her ancestral pet portraits. I would not have any problem hanging one of these in a place of prominence…

Gamil Helps SPARKcon Become a Huge Success

Thanks to all the staff at Gamil, Gamila, The Visual Art Exchange, Artspace and many many more, SPARKcon had a huge weekend to promote local creativity of the Triangle.

Lots of people ask why we do it and what we’re trying to create. We consistently work from the values established in the original SPARKcon Comment -which resulted from facilitating hundreds of citizen at the first ideaSPARK.

However we found the real mission statement was truly eminated from those who participated, in a unified voice. After 4 years of thinking and planning, we see that our open-source approach to creating a talent showcase structure is a unique construction that works and empowers the community to show their stuff and connect.

We have had a very busy summer, and can’t believe that the long days of light are basically over! Currently we are in the middle of SPARKcon* Frenzy… This year the event will bring together over 1150 performers/artists/craftspeople/designers for the annual 4 day festival!
