Burt’s Bees gets married in white (instead of green)
November 18, 2007
There are some couples you just know are not meant to be, but they always go ahead with it anyway. And usually, one side gets all the advantages (what does she see in him?) and the other side, well, maybe it’s a confidence issue. Maybe she’s tired of waiting for the fairy tale. Maybe she thinks this is her big (and maybe her last) chance. That’s how I see the marriage – well, ok, it’s a buy-out – of Burt’s Bees to Clorox. I guess I don’t blame Burt’s Bees for selling. If they were hoping to sell, then it’s a pretty sweet deal. But, just like the sad ill-suited couple, Clorox gets the better end of it all, and I just feel a bit confused about how it could have come to this for Burt’s Bees. And isn’t it weird, or even gross, to think of Clorox and Burt’s Bees at the same time? Imagine them sharing the same end cap at Whole Foods.
